How We Met
When I was a senior in high school, something really lucky happened to me. For the quite awhile I had wanted to work at Neiman Marcus in the Lenox Square Mall. I thought it would be such perfect experience for me because I wanted to be a marketing major. I applied three times before I finally landed the job. I was so excited! I thought I was the luckiest girl in the world.

I always took my break around 7 pm, and ate at the food court there. I noticed an interesting guy there. I thought he must work at the mall, too, because he was there often. But he never looked around, he was always sitting there reading a book. I thought someday he would finally look around. Well, that day came. After I finished eating, I walked near the interesting guy, to put my tray containing my trash and an almost full coke, in the trash can. Maybe I was nervous, but instead of putting it in the trash can, I dumped the tray in front of the trash can and all over the guy's table. And his book! I was horrified! He jumped up and shook the drink off the book while I blushed and apologized profusely. This was not the first impression I hoped to make. While I felt like an idiot, the guy sweetly assured me it was fine and tried to make me feel better that I had destroyed his book. He introduced himself as Martin. I offered to buy him a new book. He said I didn't have to do that. I insisted, because I felt so terrible. So he said I could buy him the new book if I would let him buy me my meal tomorrow here at the food court. I was shocked, thinking, "how does he know I will be here?" Then I realized not only had he been reading all those times, he had been noticing me after all!

Our Engagement
As we dated, we loved talking and learning more about each other and had a great time going to places together. We talked of long term plans for our lives, like what we would do after college, and those plans seemed to always have us together sharing them. We even started stopping at the jeweler's to look at rings as we passed by in the mall, just for fun.

Then one day at our favorite place to eat, Cherry Restaurant, where our rehearsal dinner will be, when we finished eating, Martin pulled a box out of his pocket and asked me to marry him! I said, "Yes!"

So I was right that getting the job at Neiman Marcus did make me the luckiest girl in the world, but it wasn't the job, it was getting to meet Martin!
